got a new baitcaster
A Quantam Accurist PT. It feels like a super nice reel, too bad its freakin cold here, I'm dyin to go try it out. I kept looking for a store that had a TD-Advantage but no one seems to carry them here, so I went ahead and got this one. It was only 100 dollars with the Black Friday deal I got from Dicks, so I say its a good deal any way ya go.
Do any of you like these reels and have any of you heard any bad things about them? The model number is AC500PT |

Ya may need to find a big body of water, all our ponds here are skimmed over with about 1/2 inch of sludgey ice

lol, no, bad back+cold=stiff as a board.
not to mention stiff knees, shoulder, and wrists. Being a catcher and pitcher for 16 years makes ya feel a little miserable in the cold. I'm gonna be casting it, no worries about that..but being on the water would be like a deathtrap to me..that nice 17 degree weather yesterday was enough. High of 30..although there IS going to be a 72 degree day this coming week...i can use that one lol. JB there has been ice here, too. I was noticing it yesterday...water looks like ice cubes that have just been put in the freezer. Not solid just kinda mushy on the top. |

Only 40, were you using the trolling motor ? !!!
Actually that was pretty fast for those temps. I don't think we got above 40 first thing.

i got one of them. i like it alot. it casts far and really smooth. but whenever u change the breaks on it make sure u have smooth line on the spool or ull get backlash up the behind. one time i had the breaks on 2 and i casted out a senko and i got a backlash all the way to the bottom of the spool. and that was th only reel i had at the time.

Just recently purchased a Quantum Accurist PT. It's a nice reel and I like it. It's smooth and casts well.

I like it, too...but I'll like it even more when I catch my first fish with it..lol. I went out not too long ago and used it because I was too anxious to try it out to wait until the spring...and everything was great. Only time I had a hint of backlash was when I had a wet hand and the reel kinda slipped from my grasp and my thumb came off the spool. Other than that, I can cast better, smoother, quieter, on and on and on...so I'm satisfied..reels like a dream and I couldn't find a single problem with it.
