new personal best
i set a personal best weight today, with my crank bait not once but twice in less than and hour.
though i use crank baits quite a bit i never really caught a big bass on them.before today my best was 4.6 on a crankbait. i fished high rock which was down 7-8 feet from full pond. pulled up on the point out of the skipjack harbor. at 6:45 am first hung a decent bass about 2 pounds on a strike king diamond shad. then after some depth changes with the lipless idiot bait i started bumping bottom the entire retrive catching a 5.7 pounder. i made mike proud i tell ya just about the time i weighed him and was looking for the camera i remembered my girlfriend had it -DOH!!- so i put the fish back while cursing my luck. i eased back on the point firing said idiot bait just slow rolling it along. about 20 cast later and nearly off the point i hang a toad -thought for a mintue it was a striper- he peeled some major drag. he went for the surface twice. i cut him off shoving 3+ feet of the rod into the water. he went round the big moter which i was trimming up as fast as it would go.finally landed this beast from the offshore side of the boat. he pulled my scales down to 6.3 pounds. i bet i woke the up the sea scouts that were camping near by lol. man was i jacked up after that fish... ended up catching 6 more fish but only one more on the idiot bait.demon and a baby bush hog got the rest.. zooker

That place (skip jack harbor) has always been known for good bass.
