Default Fishing Log

Bassintom mentioned this on another post-how many of y'all keep a fishing log?

I started a few years back and it can really make a difference. Conditions, baits, what worked, what didn't-whatever you want to keep track of. Case in point-Flyrod and I are hitting a lake south of here, and we went this time last year with almost identical conditions. I looked at the log, saw what worked and have a starting place our trip. I use one I made using Microsoft Works but there are commercial ones available which I also use-still haven't found the "perfect" one for me, but regardless I highly recommend keeping one if you don't already.

I kept a fishing log of conditions and what happened, then after a few years of doing that, I felt no need to continue, the same patterns kept repeating themselve and I had a better handle on what to do..moving from lake to lake each weekend is a dif story, I think location logs really come in handy if you're new to a lake..for that I put markings on lake maps for 10-15 years, instead of the daily logs on what to do and where to go and what to use..
I'd recommend keeping logs to anyone, it helps. With computers in everyones house these days, its even easier..

I agree with JB in this matter, I too kept a log for few years, making notes on the weather, and the water temp and the lures I was using. I made notes of where on the water I was fishing and my success or lack thereof.
But, after a few seasons of doing this, I too became less and less interested in keeping notes about my outtings. I would say it's a good idea for anyone though, who is trying to learn as much as they can and improve themselves when it comes to bassin.
