That's kind of what I've been told about this place. I am definitely a carnivore but I am open to giving it a try. Bottom line for me is I like good food, how it's made or what's in it is less of a concern.

Sea weed count? Like dried sheets of it. I don't personally consider it weird, but some people might? lol

Damn near ever part of a fish... eyes, brain, gills, eggs. All kinda seafood, squid, octopus, raw oysters, gator, frog, kimchi, numerous chicken organs, grass hopper, crawdad head, turtle stew (got some froze up down stairs... gonna have to heat it up one of these days) sea urchin, and sea cucumber are a few that I can remember without thinking to hard, lol. Raw deer hart, headcheese (again is that weird? lol), stomach, liver (love it), sushi and sashimi (had it with marlin once), eel, goat milk and cheese, crow, gar (awful), puffer fish (is the weird?), and ceviche are a couple that come after some thinking. Chicken gibbies as we call em are good too! Just fried chicken skin!

Is scrapple really weird? lol It's freaking good though!

What won't I try? Nothing, it people eat it somewhere and like it, I'll eat it! Blood soup, brain, and rocky mountain oysters are a few high on the list I'd like to try!

Strangest off all has to be fruit loops though!

Seaweed (Nori) can be good on its own. I've even seen people use it like a cracker with a Miso broth.

Raw Oysters are high up on my list of foods to try.

Goat cheese is delicious. My birthday dinner was a fillet served on top a grilled portobello with goat cheese. It was amazing.

I don't know how weird (sure it is to some people), but I absolutely love mussels. Get them whenever I find them on a menu.

I had quite a few weird things to eat in my travels and at ethnic restaurants at home. The strangest I have seen but not tried was tea made from the genitals of snakes in China. I have some food allergies so that limits a little what I eat, but other than that I try lots of strange things. The only thing that I have had that made me sick was os à moelle (beef bone marrow) in France. It was at the same time as Foot and Mouth disease was in England and the food was not legal at the time so maybe that is what made me sick.

I did just finish a big dinner of Pho about 20 minutes ago downstairs in my hotel. It's not weird, but not available in my neck of the woods.

Edit: I forgot, I ate oysters as a kid once and those also made me sick so I won't eat them again.

You will love the raw oysters, just a dash of tabasco or lemon juice and down the hatch. They taste like the ocean smells, if that makes sense.

Found a restaurant that supposedly has some of the best authentic Asian food in Toledo. They've got Kim Chi, which I am definitely going to try once I get over there. Probably not too authentic, but they have Kim Chi Bacon Fried Rice.

Anthony reminded me of something, Fish head soup.
Good friend was Chinese. His grandma came to the resturant every night at closing and made REAL chinese food for the family and anyone else who wanted in.
I'm sure I ate worse. But she didn't speak ANY English so I'll never know.

Only reason I know I had fish head soup is because yes, each large bowl had a fish head in it. It's more of an entree, not exactly what most of us think of as soup. Closer to a Stu.

I've had that too Joe! When I lived over in Saipan, was a friends house once and they had it for supper! Also had green mango salad which was pretty interesting! I certainly enjoyed both of them!

That is strong-tasting stuff, but I love it.

I find that Asian Markets are one of the best places to find unusual foods. The last time I went to one I left with Shrimp Chips, Kimchi, and some bizarre fruit juice that I can't even remember the name of.

Don't know if you would call this bizarre but my neighbor gave me some deep fried bacala fritters to try. Not bad, just a tad salty.

Well, I got to try a couple different varieties of oysters on the half shell tonight at the new casino. A little background: 6 of us went to celebrate 4 of our November birthdays at the new casino in Toledo. My one friend's dad has a ton of comps from the casino, so it was free dinner for everybody at "Toledo's premier steakhouse!" (as they say in the commercials)

My 6 oyster appetizer was $14, but absolutely delicious. They were salty, with a very good seafood flavor. The rest isn't bizarre food, but I've gotta share.

$62 Bone-in ribeye (28oz), hickory grilled, with a $7 bowl of garlic potatoes.

Cost me a $20 tip.

Foreign? Whale, reindeer (on pizza) and what I swear was pelican but they claimed it was some other type of bird. (Norway)

Kim Chi Bacon Fried Rice. It was phenomenal. It's not authentic Asian, but the place does have a lot of authentic Asian (especially Korean) food. I'm very excited to try the kim chi on it's own, which I will do the next time I'm in there. Probably as a side for the whole lightly fried shrimp they serve.

By the way guys, this thread is SEVERELY lacking in pictures!

The crappy phone pics don't help... Didn't want to bring my camera into the Casino. It looks more done than it was in the pic too. It was a perfect med-rare. Unfortunately, I believe the 28oz included the bone, lol.

Of course it included the bone. It looks excellent to me. I've never been to a high end eatery that charges that much. But I am a meat cutter so I've had plenty of good steaks.

Beef Tongue Tacos from a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant in downtown Toledo. Ok, only one was beef tongue, but I had to try it. They've also got beef intestine tacos that I will probably end up trying sooner or later.

It was surprisingly really good. the tongue had a very meaty flavor to it. Like concentrated beef roast, lol. It was soft, but not spongy like some internal organs.
