But you are right... handle length does not affect line retrieval per handle turn.
Yep, the longer handle also gives you more torque. That's why Skeet fished deep cranks with a 6.4:1 gear ratio reel.

Kevin, thanks for the response, I agree that long of a handle is going to make it a litlle more difficult to keep the spool speed up. You would think that it would be a lower geared model reel, and that handle will be used for torque.

His Revo sig reel was a 6.4:1 reel, but it sure had a low IPT. think it was a 24.4, guess thats why he went with the big handle.

First, in the itnerest of full disclosure, I am one of the guys who still fishes with a carrot stick.....

That being said, I don't really see this as a bad thing or a bad move.
Is it ugly, sure, but I have caught fish on ugly gear and missed them on pretty, shiney gear.
From a business perspective, he might not have the same backing and advertising as he did with Abu, but he is pricing stuff into a range where he will likely get more buyers.

I am not saying that the gear will be the same quality, but we already have a growing thread on expensive gear. If you put his baitcasater reel on one of his rods, spool it with the line of your choice, pick up the weights, hooks, and a bag of plastics. You are out the door for a price cheaper than purchasing his Revo reel by itself.
I can't call that a bad move. Of course, the true test wil be 6 months from now. I usually find that the first batch of new gear is good. It sometimes loses something once mass production is in full swing.
