Thanks, Cass!!! That is the video I was talking about. I saw it at work one day (whistle.......), but forgot to e-mail myself a link at home.

Yeah, that was me. Apparently, Kory makes such good jigs, even hawks like them. I'm just lucky he missed the hook.

Never give up the chance for a new PB. Better get a welding glove to get the hook out though.

It would've been a very interesting story later on if I'd hooked him. That rod had 30lb PowerPro on it, so I doubt I could've broken him off. I believe it was a redtailed hawk, and its wingspan was wider than my driveway. I would've walked away with scars, no doubt.

Wow, those jigs must be really good if you're willing to fight a hawk over it!

No, I just paid good money for it. If he wants to take what's rightfully mine, he's going to lose some feathers over it.

I practice my pitching in the backyard constantly when I can...I save my plastic coffee containers (various sizes) and set them around the yard at different distances...I stand on the porch (about 1.5' high) and pitch from there with a jig ,with a cork on the hook, into the containers
I gotten pretty deadly with accuracy this way....Clean up is easy when Im done, just collect my containers and put the cork back in my wife's bottle of wine.

I have 2 ponds on my property that hold fish. I wouldn't say that I neccesarily practice in them, but I do go down there if I haven't been fishing in a few months to help toss some of that rust off of my arms. The ponds are perfect because they have a dock that sits about as high as a bass boat and tons of stuff to practice casting to. After I learned how to use a baitcaster in both my right and left hands I didn't see the reason to practice religiously. That being said though I probably should try to get rid of a couple of my more uncomfortable casting directions.

I practice constantly, at least 3 times a week for about 30-60 minutes each day. We have a pretty good sized yard out here, tons of trees and stuff to pitch and cast at so I take advantage of them. It really helps not being rusty those first few days of the season.
Now, John, if you thinks it too cold to go practice cast outside down there, why don't you come up here where it is really cold and your casts land into snowbanks Ryan

When the weather warms I practice standing on my neighbors picnic table. I practice long casts on the street behind my house a couple times a week.
