Fishing Logs
As I've said in one of my other posts, I've been keeping a fishing log in a notebook. I write in two sections of a page; pre-fish and post-fish.
After only a couple of days it's getting messy. I don't know how to log my caught fish. I searched online and found some cool stuff... http://www.mydailyfishinglog.com/default.asp http://www.nodakoutdoors.com/fishing-log.php http://www.bassresource.com/fish/fishing_log.html I'm soo excited! I don't know which to pick. What do you think about logging fish? I thought I'd share. |

Joolz-do you have Microsoft Works on your computer? If so, take a look at this one:
fishing log I made it a while back. I fill it out in list view and print it out in form view. When you click on the link it will download. Any of those you posted will work. You could also make a journal type using word or wordpad. There isn't a wrong way to do it.

A lot of the time my writing looks like hieroglyphics, so typing and printing out a report makes for much easier reading

Joolz, you done good! That is a great looking log.
As far as it being detailed enough-that is up to you. One suggestion I'd make is to add a column for blade type/combo for when you are using spinnerbaits. For example, silver double willow, gold colorado/silver willow, copper Indiana/gold willow-you get the idea. There are times the blade setup makes a difference.

Yeah, I know there is a lot to look for, but if you look under the column "Other Lure Specifications" there is the blade combo. I love your spinnerbaits!

fishing logs
I have heard a lot about them from some other anglers but they would not say what they are good for excpet to remind you what you did last time you went out
can someone tell me why you keep a log I have found that fishing changes sometimes in as little as 10 mins you will be on the bite and off so you have to change as fast as the fish do . So how will a log help what you did last time you went out wont be the same as this time AHassell |

If you keep a log you will begin to get enough info that you can use it to figure out what to try or not try when you first hit the lake. For example, it is the middle of May, gray overcast and water temp is about 65 degrees. You tore them up on deep running cranks. Fast forward two years-identical conditions. Will you remember what worked two years before? Maybe and maybe not. You look back at your log and oh yeah-throw the deep runners.

I thought this was a thread about how to fish submerged trees and logs.
I stopped keeping one and just develop pictures and write the info on the back.
