Lake Okeechobee
Does anyone here fish lake ockeechobee? I was heading down south and was wondering if the bass prefer a type of bait out there. If i make it over to their I'll be on the southwest end of the lake, is that a good spot of the lake for bass? Also is there any other lakes west of lake okeechobee that are worth fishing?

The lake is very low, in fact we relocated our yearly tourney to the Harris Chain. Haven't been down there since last year, all my fish were caught on Ratl traps. There are plenty of lakes and canals that hold very nice fish.

Thanks for the reply, hopefully I catch one of those big florida bass. Up here in Michigan my biggest bass was 4lbs, they don't get as big up here.

I don't have any information for lakes west of there, but to the Northeast there is Lake Garcia and the Stick Marsh. Both are very good bass lakes.
I've heard that water levels are low in Okeechobee. |

I have heard from several people that the bass fishery at Okeechobee has "collapsed". That sounds pretty severe to me.
There are many great florida lakes left. Isotopoga (sp) is probably one of the closer ones, walk-in the water, stick marsh, toho...I think to the west of Okeechobee is pretty much the everglades which might be good.
