Default Topwater Bait, OH MY

Was cruising around tackle warehouse looking at topwater baits. I found one I thought I would like, sort of like a jitterbug but a bit longer. I clicked the add to cart button and nearly fell slap out. The bait is a Vagabond Moon Walk, and retails for $68.99. I could'nt decide what color so I ordered 1 of each . NO, not really, I just could not believe the price tag on this topwater bait. I thought I was crazy for paying 20-30 for some lucky crafts or the spro, and tru tungsten swim baits.

This is by far the most expensive topwater lure I've ever seen, and that got me to wondering. Aside from bait kits, what is the most expensive SINGLE TOP-WATER lure on the market. I have to say this one has to be close to the top.

here is the link
http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpageVTWB-VMW48.html

I definatly think this one was designed to catch fishermen, seeing as how I would think a jitterbug would do the same thing.

Looks like a variation of a jitterbug... The paintjobs were sweet! But definetly not worth $60+!

The most expensive topwaters i know of are the original castaic hardbaits. They regularly run in the 400-700 dollar range but this one will do...

I'll say this for it, they WORK!

It's not the bait that so exspensive. It the cost of getting a bait from japan that's not distributed to the US. Oversea's shipping & tariff charges. I collect allot of japenese lures. I don't use many them because they are so rare & hard to get over here. I baught a Deps silent killer in Albino trout. that was 49.00. A jackal Bros. 180 switchback for 35.00. I do plan on using these. But will be holding on to the boxes.

Heh heh, I imagine I could come up with a few choice words fishing with that and getting a pike biteoff.

My wife got me a Custom Lures Unlimited Sabre Frog. It was $40. It's pictured in the center. It is similar to a jitterbug. The picture does not do this bait justice, btw. I don't know if I'd ever purchase one myself, but I do like it alot. I'll use it this summer sometime.

BTW, you can get a bait just like the moonwalker from custom lures unlimited for a lot less, and you can order it custom painted however you like.

Well,

I can't really say a whole lot about these baits being way too expensive. I own 5 of the Rago baits. Not the $300 models, but I have spent over $100 on a single one. I won a couple of others in a charity poker event.
BTW...if you are looking into the big 10+ inch swimbaits this site is a good one for them
http://www.outdoorproshop.com/Rago-Baits-s/539.htm

If you are looking for one that won't break the bank, here are some 9 inch baits for $20-$30.

Cool

Maybe I missed something but nowhere did I see the "vitals" for that "MoonBat...errrr...Walk" JitterBug knockoff...weight, length, etc, and I've never seen a Largemouth colored like THEIR version.
Besides, at that price you'd have to cast it on 120 lb test in order to not lose it and everyone knows a Curado won't hold much of that.

I knew there were some expensive swimbaits on the market. I was just blown away by the regularity of that 68$ topwater bait, that looks just the same as a jitterbug.

When you collect japanese baits like l do. The first thing you notice is the quality. Many are hand carved not by some machine. That cost money. Second is there are tackle shops in japan that have back rooms Or special trays of limited production stuff. They don't let just anybody buy the stuff. Mostly Americans & Pro japanese bass fishermen. The one thing i notice the most about japanese bass fishermen. They really study the fish in away americans don't. The Japanese are the second biggest market in the world when it comes to bass fishing. Here are a few links. http://www.arcadiareef.com/infoA.html and http://www.attic.ne.jp/ and http://www.palms.co.jp/ and http://www.bassday.co.jp/catalog/cat_0.html and http://www.dowluck.com/index.html I could go on & on. I love the stuff.

You sure that isn't a typo? The price is nuts. For topwaters just get yourself some Super Spook jrs and a few Poppers. Enough said.

hey it wasn't my monkey that said anything. I didn't spend anything at tacklewarehouse tonight.

I did find an awsome deal at allamericantackle.com on the new US Reels.
