BPS catalog
Just recieved the new catalog today. Some new items. Those of you who use the BPS rods and reels should like the new items. Wish they would expand on other brand rods.

I've got a limited gold johnny Morris gold reel. It's really nice! Very smooth, if it's got lube, casts light lures pretty well! Over all a really good reel!
From what I've read, you're pretty much safe buying any BPS brand reel that's above the extreme! They have some good price to quality products too! I've used my dad's tourny special and it's not bad considering the price. Sensitive enough, but heavy. Rated as a MH fast action, and fishes like one, I like that!

Ya, a lot of people don't like them, but I really don't mind it.

I'm wondering if you already have a BPS rod with the power hump and your deciding you don't care for it, couldn't you simply take some sandpaper to it and make the hump smaller or eliminate it all together?

I was at BPS today. The new Carbon Lite do not have the power hump, it's a split, foam grip. I'm a hard and fast Kistler LTA user, but those Carbon Lites felt really good. They are certainly light, as to the sensitivity I can't say. But for the $100 price point they seem like a good deal and if I was looking for a reasonalby priced rod to try, that might be the one. Speaking of reasonalby price rods the new Abu Garcia Vendetta was pretty impressive, especially at their $80 price. Very light and the color scheme is pretty nice. I won't be giving up my rods and buying these, just giving an opinion as one who uses what many consider a "premium rod" that I was impressed by these other, reasonably priced rods. If these rods are within your budget, you might consider giving them a look.

I gots mine homie! I noticed with the exposure of spooning on the upswing, the old Johnson Silver Minnow got their picture back in the book. I like Fergie's humps, but not on the rod. I am not dissing those that do, but they are not for me. Unless I win a free one at the get together, then we can do some bartering.

Got mine yesterday and gave it a quick look through and here's what I noticed...
Mann's Jelly Worms were new . Somebody please explain how worms that have been around longer than I have can be new??? Didn't see any chatterbait type baits at all. Unless those pages were stuck together and I went through it twice. Prices for the Loomis Mossybacks have gone up dramatically. Must be a big demand for them. The new Lowrance depth finders are out. It would be nice to see a side by side comparison vs the Humminbird. Extras comparisons and costs too. |

Well you know how these things go, something that goes "out of style" for a time they bring it back "Brand New" or "New and Improved". All to try to sell items which is not a bad thing. Keeps quality up.

I wasn't saying that they wouldn't catch fish, but the New label on them was just a way to get everyone to remember how good of a bait they were.

Thanks zook, I currently fish them on a shaky head, as well as a c-rig, the softer part makes me kinda leery of throwing a jelly worm on a shaky head though, your thoughts? Also do the jelly worms sink?

yeah they sink..they would be good on s shakey head rig i think..they are a soft and tough bait.. they don't rip like senko's do when rigged. they are as tough as any regular zoom bait, just do to the custom mix manns uses they are quite soft.

Cool, thanks a bunch, I will be looking to pick up a few packs in the grape and watermellon red and give them a shot. Soft plastics and cranks are my Achilles heal when it comes to the monkey. I am starting to look really seriously at getting a bunch of spro little john dd's.
