That is why I never run WOT over a boat wake. I always throttle back.

yep i learned that by an oh @$%* moment a few years back. i was crossing some big wakes from a huge yacht wide open in a tourney. i would have been fine crossing the waves i saw but a boat or wave runner that i never saw must have went around the other side of the big yacht i was crossing behind and we hit their wakes at a funny angle and it got me out of shape pretty quick. didn't hurt anything but we went into orbit for a bit and it was enough to teach me a lesson. i always lift a little for wakes, or at least trim down and be ready to lift when crossing small wakes.

Scary for sure. 1st, who was taping this? Why was he allowed to remain in the water for 10 min?
99% of my fishing is done is a row boat using oars, so 3 mph is about it. I'll be fishing next Friday in a TX on Candlewood lake in Conn. Max boat speed is 45 mph not unlimited. I've always thought that this is one area that needs to be addressed in all fishing Tx's. We're fisherman, not professional boat race drivers. I've seen some scary things out there, even asked more then one boater to slow down. If it takes 5 min longer to get to a spot, so be it. Getting there later is a whole lot better then not getting there.

I think that they were probably afraid to move him with the possibility of neck and back injuries. To me it looked like driver's error. He seemed to be "showboating". I personally don't ever see a reason to cross someone else's wake at the speed he was traveling.

AS bad as the speed was, the real mistake was trying to cross too close to the camera boat. When he launched off the set of waves on one side the boat didn't have time to pad back out before hitting the waves on the other side. That caused the keel grab and produce the result you see on the camera. I believe what we witnessed was a lack of experience in action!
