I two really better then one?

I'm all set to rap up my tackle lust for the year. I wanna go out with a bang. So I'm debating: Do I get one high-end baitcaister or 1 nice baitcaster and 1 nice spinning reel?

I would buy one quality item rather than two mid-level items, but that depends upon you personal wants/need. Are you looking to increase your quanity to have more options available for various presentations, or do you have a selection of reels and looking to improve the quality of your equipment?
My personal choice (now) is to buy quality and increase my tackle slowly, rather than buy cheaply and increase my tackle quickly. I went the cheap/quick route, and wasn't happy with it and ended up doing it all over and spent much more $$$ by the time I was done.
Buy the best your budget allows - good tackle will last longer, perform better and likely provide more satisifaction with you fishing experience.

If it were me, I would look for a Revo S and a Pflueger Supreme spinning reel. I have both (2 Revo S's, 3 Supremes) and both preform great. I also tournament fish and have total faith in the product when I pick it up.

Oh and wait for the sales at BPS and save a couple of bucks.

I would go with the quality item, but my opinion of the Johnny Morris reels in gerneral are not quality (I had a lot of problems with the ones I purchased a while back). For $150 personally me being a Revo fan I would get the SX. Plus the retail on the 2009 revos should go down a lot when the 2010 revos start hitting the shelves. Then again that is just my experience with the johnny morris baitcasters you may have better luck with them.

Ebay also has some good deals NIB. Most retailers who cannot sale their 2009 in store do it over ebay. Most are no reserves starting at $00.99

Check the for sale forum - there is a NIB REVO SX for $130. not a bad price. I've seen the STX for $150 NIB. Some Loomis sticks listed there also.

I say get one good baitcaster, but it really depends if you have a spinning reel all ready! if you don't, get the two, if you do get a good bait caster!

But IMO, if you're gonna spend 270 on a reel, than I say, don't get the JM BPS gold reel. For example the TD - Fuego, or Garcia premiere (on sale for 160 at tackle warehouse). And if you wanna get a really good rod with yer reel, than I say a revo stx, they're on sale at tackle warehouse for 135 (left hand only though).

Just consider that before you buy the reel.

It has been my experience with reels that you get what you pay for. Get the johnny morris.

That may be the deal of the year. I already have an SX 6:4. And it’s a light-weight tank. I may have to look at the STX again. I hadn’t really checked it out since I already had the SX.

I'd stay away from all those choices, lol.

While the johnny morris sig. reel isn't a bad reel, it's a larger and heavier reel than most in its class.

Check out the Abu SX, STX, or even the Premier (onsale at TW for $164). Or the Daiwa Advantage A or Fuego (also on sale for about 160).

Personally, I'd rather buy less rods and reels and have better one that will perform better and last me longer. (it saves for frustration and money in the long run).
