Default Weekly Lake Fork Fishing Report From Guide Jim Reaneau

Well, the fishing is still HOT. The fish are schooling and you can pull up on a school and catch a bunch in short time. These fish are small but there are some good fish mixed in. Tail spinners, Wacky worms, small spoons, grubs on jig heads, and small spinner baits have been the best schooling baits. Shad colors has been the best colors. Key on grass edges, main lake points, and the backs of small creeks. The approaching cold front may slow the bite a day or so but this is the cold we need to get the big fish moving. The water temp is still around the middle seventies and for this time of year we need it to be in the upper to middle sixties.
The best tip is when you find the schooling fish work them over with the above mentioned baits and move on when they stop schooling. If you are catching wacky worm fish and they quit try a Texas or Carolina rig around the area. We caught some better fish after the wacky bite quit this week. The deep bite has been good but the drop shot has been the best approach for catching these fish. Small baits on this pattern is the best. Find the fish or bait with your electronics and vertical jig the drop shot. Small jiggles not hops with long pauses will catch you some fish.
Lake Fork Trophy Bait and Tackle baby ring fries and twitch worms are good on the drop shot.
The crappie are still slow but you can catch a few keepers. You just need to move around and cover plenty of pilings. 15 to 18 foot has been the best depth around the bridges. Small jigs and minnows have been the best baits.
I have November dates open if you want to book a trip give me a call. Christmas is not far off. A guided fishing trip is a great gift for that fisherman you care about are for someone who has everything.
