To me, it sounds like you'll be fishing it T-rigged, not c-rigged if you'll be pitching it.
This is the c-rig: This is the t-rig (can be used without the bead): c-rigs can be difficult to cast, and I'd imaging you'd have an even harder time pitching one. However, I'd be using the same hooks for t-rigs and c-rigs. Either a 5/0 Owner TwistLock or a 4/0 Owner or Gammy EWG. For pitching the craw, I'd probably use 4/0 or 5/0 Gamakatsu Flipping Hooks. BB

again, the pros have it, it was texas, went today on shore, Aunt came by with her crestliner and took me out, got skunked, more poor aunt doesn't understand if you pull up to the fishig spt, then stop i usally scares the fish.. aright, i used the 4/0 gama, EWG, the thing i do not get is with the 4/0 it seem to long and hooks in right above were the "flipprs" start, looks to me to be too long, but i am new at it. my dicks must suck(no pun) casue the past 2 times i went the had hardly nothing, in hooks. if it wasn't at a glance at the outdoor depo at wallmart i would have never known that EWG is not a bassfishin.com term but actually says so on hook pack. guess i will have to break down and order from tackle warehouse

A Carolina rig is typically used more as a "search" bait, whereas a Texas rig is usually used to fish a particular piece of structure or cover.
If you find a good point or ledge or dropoff in say 15 ft of water, that's where the C-rig would probably be your best bet. But if there's one fallen tree close to shore, there's your T-rig situation.

The problem with baits they have a thick body, but a short profile is you need a hook with a gap big enough to allow the plastic to move out of the way when the fish bites, but generally that means a longer hook.
But a 4/0 EWG (extra wide gap) hook should be fine on a 4" Chigger Craw. BB
