For t rigging in most situations I use 15 pound Flouroclear. I have another rod I use for pitching t rigged baits into heavier cover that is spooled with 20 pound Flouroclear. So I wooould think 17 pound would be a good all purpose line to use. If I had only one rod for using t rigged baits, 17 is probably what I would choose.

Depends on the type of line you will use. Mono/co-poly/flurocarbon, anywhere from 12# - 17# depending upon conditions. Braid, 20# - 50#. Personally, I prefer co-polymer line (YoZuri Hybrid) in 12# or 15#.

One note about YoZuri - they rate their line strength by line diameter, as compared to mono, rather than actual breaking strength. Good, bad or indifferent, that's the way they do it. The result is the line's breaking strength is actually about 25% greater than the line rating. Bad if you're thinking IGFA records - I'm not. What I see as a benifit, once this is understood, is I can use a thinner diameter line (as with braid) that is "stronger" than comparable size mono. So my 12# test is actually about 15# if compared to mono. Just pointing this out, because lines are rated differently among various manufacturer's. My 12# Hybrid isn't the same as another guys 12# mono, or another guy's 12# flurocarbon, or 12# braid.

Open-water fishing, not much snags - 10LB/12LB mono.
Slight snags - 12LB/14LB mono.
All-around: 14LB/17LB mono.
Heavy-snags: 17LB/20LB mono.
EXTREMELY-heavy: 40LB/50LB braid.

I use 12lb FC for most of my t-rigging. But use 14-16lb for the heavier stuff.
