Default A good day on the water. But still whining.

Took a vacation day and got out for some bass fishin and enjoying the beautiful warm spring friday. Landed about 15 bass today, most of them on the small side. But I got a few that were better sized. The day started with a Rapala XRap out in deeper water worked through a green bed of grass. Thats where I got the largest 4.7 pounder. The I started getting a few on one of the bladed jigs I purchased from Bassboogieman. They worked great Bruce! When that slowed, I started catching them from the shaded sides of piers on a black/blue jig with a craw trailer. If there was a pier, 70% of the time you would get a hit. But guys, I have to tell ya, and this is no fish story, but it's the truth. I lost 2 pigs today on the jig fishing piers. One came off on her first jump and the other I had almost to the boat when she jumped and threw the jig. I just wanted to cry! I extimate the first one was around 6 pounds. But that second one was HUGE. Easily double the size of the 4.7 bass I landed today. Had a head as big as mine I bet. Just sat there feeling sick after realizing I lost that one. Anyways, God blessed me with a very enjoyable day today, so I'm still smiling.

Awesome, Keith! I'm guessing that 9 pounder would have won you the Big Bass Contest for sure.
On a side note, I'm sending your money back, and kicking you out of the tourney!

That's rough on losin that fish, buddy, but I'm glad you got in some more quality fishing

Great day of fishing and nice pics, Keith! Sorry about the pigs that got away. Looking forward to getting and using the bladed jigs that I ordered from boogie also. Maybe I'll have to see if I can sneak down to Iowa and fish there with my dad while I wait for the season to open here...

Sounds like an awesome day Keith. Losing a big one is tough, but hey you still had a great day fishing in a T-Shirt in March!

A close look at pic 1/6 would indicate a jig other than the fabled wooden dowel hooking Alpha jig....oh my
Losing a big fish at boatside makes me sick, but better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.

Quit your whining, you're getting as bad as Bryce.

Looks like you had a very nice day, caught some very nice fish, and I am happy you caught some on my bladed jig, I really like hearing guys are having some success with them. That looks like a pretty nice lake to spend a day on, nice quality fish.

I believe it's only about 33% or so.

As they say "a good day of fishing is always better then any day of work" And it looks like a you had a good day of fishing. Heck, I'm lucky to get 4/5 to the boat, let lone a nice one. (Ya I get lucky about every 3 years and land a 4lber or better, but I just can't get a day to caught 15+ a day, I'd almost wet myself for a day like that.)
