Be Aware of Your Surroundings!!!
We were with my in-laws yesterday, they are nice and i like them, the brother-in-laws are my fishing buddies...We were eating and everyone was in their own conversation. They started to talk about the vacation that we are all going on. We are in SC and going to FLorida for disney world and other stuff. They mentioned the price for just the tickets, it is going to be $700 for me and my wife for tickets....SO i said to the younger brother in law right beside me, i was whispering, that man, $700 would by a lot of fishing stuf and he agreed, but then the mother in law heard it and anounced it to the whole table, the brothers agreed but kept quite because the women were mad and the father in law was upset. I tried to tell them i was joking around, i was kinda but kinda not. However, everyone got mad at me last night for saing that, they said that I thought the vacation was stupid.
I don't think family vacations are stupid, i just simply stated that $700 could buy a lot of fishing equipment. So be careful who is listening!

I did some commercials down there for fishing Lake Buena Vista. Worked like a dog for three days of shooting to catch one fish. But they got the commercial in the can and my family got a free place to stay and tickets to the parks for two days. If you stay in the resort you may see my 15 second commercial and me saying "Welcome to Lake Buena Vista where the fishing is great" and I lift the fish to camera. And say "Even Capt Mike Starrett takes his vacation here"....
It was fun.. but the whole sorted deal will be in my book if I ever complete it. Capt Mike

Not to hijack away from the idea of vacations, but the beware of yoru surroundings thing can apply in more than just that part.
I rewatched the "hooked on bass" show last night and my lovely bride watched with me. Sorta. When it was done she asked me about George Perry's bass being the largest known to be caught. She then threw out a question I could not defend well. If the largest bass was caught on a 1930's rod, reel, line, and lure, then why in the hell do you have to keep buying all this other stuff?

I have a house there. There are a couple good bass lakes around. If you are gonna get a chance, let me know and I'll give you directions.
