My First Car and My First Boat
The over 30 thread mentioned first cars. Just curious too see how times have changed and what you got vs what the younger generation is getting. And for fun, throw in your first boat. Don't forget to mention your age.
I'm 42. I had three much older sisters. Each of them got respectively: 196x Corvair, 196x Volkswagon beetle, 1966 convertible mustang. Note the pattern? Cool cars. So my 16th rolls around and I come home (its 1982) and there is a Datsun 260Z sitting in the driveway. I'm all excited with the score. Only to find out that my mom is taking that car and passing down to me her 1976 AMC Hornet station wagon with the real simulated wood panelling. Oh Joy! That's my first car. First boat was bought in 1994. It was a 1982 Bayliner 18' for $1000. |

My first car (which I have'nt driven yet cause it's not done yet) is a 1965 Mustang conv. This is my car, that I may drive a bit after it's done being restored and before we sell it. I'll be 17 next month by the way.

My dad had a blue one. And that little car had a V-8 option. For whatever reason, my parents had an affection with AMC. They had the Gremlin, the Pacer and the Hornet which was passed down to me.

First car was a 1991 Ford Explorer. First boat? Depends on the legal definition of ownership, I guess the 14' starcraft I now own is the first thing that was mine outright. The others were just stolen/borrowed.

hey basscrazie you had a charger too? man i miss mine. more that either of the 2 vettes i had. it didn't have no big motor or nuthin (ol 318), but it would run no matter HOW cold or hot it got. best ditch jumper there ever was. yes gang i thought it was a general lee. but no it wasn't painted like the general lee. mine was what they called agronze color with a vynil roof. repainted it a true bronze, although it looked more like brown, hahahaha.
