Question lb test

How much lb test should I use... I am currently using Berkley trilin 12 lb test... I recently bought a braided line: 50lb test... to much????

How much should I use?

It all depends on your rod, your reel, and what lure you are fishing. I use 70lb. Braid on my heavy frogging rod, and 4lb. mono on my ultra light, my general purpose rods are strung up with 20lb. braid as well.

I like 20lb braid for my general purpose rigs: worming, jigging, spinnerbaiting. I recently spooled up with 50lb braid and I didnt like it as much as I like the 20lb. Just personal preference but I feel like I can cast better using 20lb. Plus I've never came across a freshwater fish that could break 20lb braid even with help from structure so I dont see the need for anything higher. The only reason I decided to rig on 50lb to one of my rigs is because I was thinking about using that rig for both fresh and saltwater fishing.

As of right nowI use 30lb braid for everything on my baitcaster cause i onyl have one. But once I get my flippin stick built, I will probably use 40lb braid on it. and my spinning reels, I use 10lb Stren (I tried trilene(again) and hated it (again)) and once I get a good ultralite, I will use 4-6lb mono (Stren as well)

Stevo, that 50 lb braid has the same diameter as 12 lb mono, which is why I use that lb test braid. My mono/fluoro rods are all spooled with 12 lb, and the 50 lb braid fits right in.

I primarily use 20# braid, do have 2 set ups with 30#. I really haven't noticed the difference between the two.
