Default Flouro Knot

Hey, I just recently started using a flouro leader because I'm starting to believe that fish can see braided line, and that it effects the number of fish you catch. I'm starting to believe this because When I switched to braided I caught a loss less fish compared to mono.

Anyways, I heard the Trilene Know was good for Flouro, But I'm using Stren 100% Flourocarbon 20lb test and I can't get the knot to tighten all the way. So if anyone knows a strong and easy knot that good for flouro I'd love to know it. I have a sheet of knots, but Diagrams would still be nice.

Thanks,
~bb144~

Try a Palomar knot. I think the animated knots stickied at the top has it.

I can confirm for certain that fish CAN see braid! I was fishing the other day and stopped to swat a mosquito. When I went to begin my retrieve again, I watched a bream rush out from under the weeds at the shoreline and start biting my braid about 1 foot under the surface. Why he was biting the line I don't know-but he was!

That confirmed for me that the line IS visible. Like you, I use a leader. Lately I have been using the old Trilene XL that I purchased, installed, and then removed because it had more memory than an elephant. I use a minimum 18" leader, and this seems to work well. I also use a swivel between the leader & the braid. the swivel makes it easy to add a new leader. All I have to do is cut the old leader off the swivel, tie a new one on and go.

I prefer the San Diego Jam knot for fluorocarbon line. See the following web sites for information on how to tie this knot.
