Default sprinting

to train football i was previously doing 18 40 yard dashes and 2 100 yard dashes every other day. i was then told by a trainer at my gym that it is too much and will damage my fast-twitch muscles. he told me to actually do sprints about once a week, and the rest of the days to jumping, cone, and ladder drills. so thats what ive started. along with that i do cardio every day, and weights every other day. anyone have any other tips or suggestions for speed training?

i dont know, but hey, i play a game of football every day with my friends. not as hardcore as a regular game, like you use 7 secod rushes, one blitz per set of downs, ect. ive improved a lot of my throws and my jukes. ive got a crazy stiff arm too

yeah that is the best way to get better, and have a lot of fun while doing it. but i dont get a chance to play a game with friends or scrimmage every day, but i train instead to develop the raw skills you need in a game. zook you used to play football, maybie you can shed some light on this topic?
