Default Swimbaits Part2 Reaction Strike Fathead Jr.

http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descp...IKE-RSFHJ.html

SO,
I'm really pleased with what I've fished so far with swimbaits, was wondering
if we had discussed this brand, or if any one has used them; I'm lucky enough to work with a engineer at work that also has owned the biggest tacklestore on brookville lake for years .Today he told me about this brand , the locals are tearing the small mouth up on this tubelike / hollow swimbait.
No hook comes with them, any one have a preference to size and weight?
thanks

Yep, you need a weighted hook. Fortunately they are getting more widespread in availability.

Depending on the size of bait , I use a 7/0 Lake Fork , Bass Pro Shops carries them now ( yeah ! ) with a 5.5" to 6" swimbait , although I have only used Money Minnows so far.

Default Lake Fork

I am also a fan of the lake fork swimbait hooks. Walmart carries them too but only in 3/0 and 5/0 here. Love to get some 7/0. Been using the 5/0 with the money minnows with good sucess.

Lubbock--I got some of the 7/0 & 10/0 by calling LFT direct. Call 800-408-2028 ext 13. I like these better than the offset type hooks cause the don't tear up the bait as bad with the spear. Also not as bad as the Owners with the spring at tearing up baits. I do keep some bait glue handy to glue in the spear when it gets loose.

The key of the LFT hooks over others such as Owners is the wider gap they have. Here is a comparison of a 7/0 LFT, 11/0 Owner and 10/0 LFT. Notice the big difference in gap size. Personally, I think you need that to handle the big bulk of the bait.

I just picked up some 1/16 ounce weighted hooks for Carolina Riggin' craws and need tips on rigging them up. How should I rig them Texas-style without having to run the weight through the actual craw?

Rig them by running the eye of the hook through where it would usually go and just stick the hook point in. Sorry bout the bad explaination its hard to explain

Like this?

1) Push eye of hook into nose of bait
2) Pull eye of hook out of bait and tie on
3) Hook hook point in belly of bait

Like that?

I would strongly suggest using at least 1/4oz. weighted hooks if you plan on using the 5-6" models. I've messed around with 1/16 and 1/8oz. hooks and noticed the baits "rolled" a lot more.

Finally fished the Reactions Fathead yesterday. Didn't seem to have as much action/wobble as the Bass Magic.
