Default ahhhh da beetle...

yep i owned one back in the 80's..

a 71 super bettle for a 4 cyclider air cooled moter-58 horse-4 speed, rear wheel drive. it ran good, handlin was iffy at best -shed induced handlin was AWESOME- it had very lil room to squezze my big but in.-get the shoe horn lubed-but was a cool to ride to highschool in.several girlfriends loved driving the zookie bug..

friday morning i rolled into my sisters house in a new 2011 beetle, it was hers..i did get a suprise when punching the bug off lights, going thru the city.. the moter is a 2.0 l front wheel drive jobby. handled better than exspected over the "level" and "straight" roads of bethal west virginia.. i threw it around corners at speeds that would make my truck tires squall, with no ill effects..yep still a bit of a squeeze to get in.and the girls still love to drive the bug with it's ugly as ever looks..i even had a 6 foot blonde milf-not my sister- drive it down I-77 from bethal to the 'gap.same complaints as mine-designed for the runt driver..

on the up side the family bussiness did not take as long as i figured..so i am back and will NOT be fishing this weekend...

My wife had a 66 model when we were dating and got married. Got an education in that car.

It may "look" the same, but it ain't the same, know what i mean? no self respecting bug would want a motor in the FRONT. almost won $100.00 off a guy over this. he said it was the same, rear engine. i offered the $100.00 bucks if he could prove it. he buckled, then went and checked. red faced as all get out. hahahaha!

We had a 78 red/orange super bug when I was like 7. It was a squeeze for sure. Four of us in a tin can. My butt used to go numb from the vibration of the motor behind me. I loved that thing!

Neighbors had a baby blue drop top. Don't remember the year, but it was sexy as hell. took a few rides in it.

My sister owned a '08 until just recently. She traded it in for a Ford Edge. I like the Edge a whole lot better. And yeah, the front mounted engine can't touch the old rear mounts. Why they changed it up I'll never know.

true enough the old bug moter had just one fan belt and would -still does-run better than most new fuel injected pos available today..

just so you know the vw bug was a hitler ordered vw design-the thousand year reich-i got to amitt like it or not porshe definatly did his thing upon designing a car that would last forever..my own super beetle had 350,000 miles on it when i sold it..btw the differance between the super and the regular was the supsention. the old regulars had leaf under coils while the supers had shocks under coils.-this IS the only differance really-

after seeing the car market for it grow porsche took his design made it longer and dropped a v-6 in it.. guess what the porsche was born...
