Default High school bass club weigh in

Whats the best way do do weigh ins when fishing from shore with 10-20 high schoolers? I started the club and need to find a way to do this efficently and make sure the bass are not harmed. I was thinking of doing a paper tournament where each kid has a ruler, measures the fish on the ruler and take a picture of it and include its length... any other ideas? I have a teacher who volunteered, but he wants to fish as well

I would have to say a paper tournament would be the best for fish survival.

I agree with the idea of a paper tournament, in a situation where well aerated livewells aren't available it's the only way to go. I personally would have them weigh the fish on the spot and have another member there to verify the weight and initial beside the weight of the fish.

You could have a runner with a bolo grip scale and an "I Pad" containing each anglers name. Catch ,weigh, record, release.

If you don't have I-pad you can use paper and each member take a shift as runner. 3hrs fishing 20 fishers rotated...heck they'll barely have time to grab a 'soda' and chips much more than actually missing out on water time. Everyone fishes and everyone equally competes.
Great to hear your iniative and I wish you great success on your club.
Heck, tell them all to become members here and we can all follow the fun!

Great idea champman!

Just buy two or three of the same hand held scales and as long as y'all aren't spread out over a huge area just pass em around. Each kid carry their own paper and pencil, and make one other kid sign off in each fish's weight (initial, so no one accuses anyone of cheating).

Scales cane be had pretty cheaply, this time of year.
2 years ago, right around this time, I picked up Berkley digital scales, so cheap at KMart, that I bought 2 of em. They were like 9.99
