NMEA 2000 and Mercury

It seems that Mercury has decided to join the club and stop the propritory SmartCraft gauge war with NMEA 2000. This April they will release a new monitor and harness for the NMEA 2000 networks. Yea...

Closer view reveals much..

More to come with allow GPS to display guages as well.
You could have all the info on all the gauges if you like.

I really like the green vs yellow that is automatic on the new monitor.
May need this on my xmas list this year..

Hmmm....I originally posted that Merc already had an NMEA 2000 gateway, but I guess I got lied to. Looks like this gauge IS the gateway.

My HB doesn't support 2000, so I got the lesser version of the Merc Monitor. (It's still fun to play with...)

I was going to go to the SmartCrafy gauge if Mercury did not complie soon just like yours. But they where no longer in stock at my marine store so I did some Googleing and I found this attractive alternative.

I am supprised the HB is not NMEA 2000..

I was surprised too, as it is HB's flagship model. However, I still think HB caters more to bass fishermen, while the Lowrance HDS stuff is aimed (a little) more towards bigger, coastal and off-shore boats. Bass boats really don't need much of the NMEA 2000 functionality.

My version of the Mercmonitor will do most of what the NMEA 2000 one will do except for the fuel optimization and Smart Tow.
I bought it mainly for the Troll Control. Besides, I like being "not green."
