Default Livewell system for 1980 BassTracker II

I have a 1980 bass tracker II and i need help with the livewells. They are the underseat livewells. They automatically fill up when the boat is in the water. It has a T type fitting that goes through the side of the boat and that is all there is. There is wiring in there that operated an aerator i would guess but there is nothing in there right now. I'd like to fish small local tournaments and don't want to kill fish. Please help me to get the livewells working properly. thanks in advance!

So i decided that instead of trying to use the existing livewells, I'm just going to build a custom one behind the seats. The two existing livewells will only hold about 10-12 gallons of water combined and i need at least 20 to fish small tourneys. I just ordered the mayfair basspirator 2 kit from basspros.com. anyone have experience with doing this kind of work and any advice? I've built fiberglass enclosures before so thats not a problem. Just want to make sure i know how to use a livewell properly, hook it up properly, and i don't want to kill the fish. thanks in advance!

Just like any livewell or fishtank, as long as there is sufficient water and proper aeration, there is not much else to worry about except leaks.

You can use release me or rejuvenate products etc. in the water to help keep them alive. During the hot summer, use ice in the water will help also.

I have a MonArc purchased new in 1978 with a metal tank and I had to just keep the aeration on just about all the time in hot weather. My Ranger boat with a timer and larger tanks sure is nice but I still use products in the water to aid the fish.

As far as intallation, I am sure the instruction should cover most points, and I would assume you can use existing intake and drain holes.

While you're doing that, install a pro air system. They are about 50 bucks for the kit but well worth it.

I'd try to get all the livewells running properly...just saying

i think it is kind of dead now
its a scrap
too much oldy
you should change it into new one
but if you want to use it keep the proper aeration + sealed its all corners

If you do put in a pump system you might check out the filtration/areation system from akwa-lung..

A lot of catfish tourny guys use this and it is now catching on in the LGMouth world.
