Default too much???

hey fellas! my old lady was just telling me the other day that i spend way too much on my rod and reels, my least expensive rod and reel combo is around 350. So my question here is, is that crazy? personally i dont think so. i tell her im making a sound investment. what do you think?

$350 is a little pricey, but alcoholics and drug addicts easily blow that in a weekend and have nothing to show for it. Tell her you're thinking of selling all your tackle for crack, and see how she feels.

$350 is a bit high i think..

i averge roughly $140 for a good stick and $125 for a reel..
i have several old quantum mag gears and a couple extremes..not high end but good usable reels. i also have a couple high end quantum reels-which have lost 1/2 there paint-..

i figure if it works good and don't cost me out the butt why not use it?? really.. my extremes work just as well as my quantum tour edition pt reels..

diawa has a great reel for around a $100-advantage-i have had one for 1 year now the paint looks great while the $350 quantum i have had the same time has lost 1/2 of it's paint job and looks like crap..

Get her hooked on fishing, let her try some of the lesser rods, then let her feel the sensitivty difference with a quality rod. She will understand why its a good idea to pay a little more for quality gear.

Of course since I did that I now have to buy 2 of everything.

It depends on how much she spends on her hobbies. If she spends in excess on clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc, tell her she is right and that you are going to quit fishing and start hanging out in the strip joints.
When my wife starts in on me about the amount of time I spend fishing, I tell her that I will start hanging out in the beer joints. That shuts her up fast!!! (Her first husband was an alcoholic)
