Default One more month...

...until bass season is officially open again here in MN. I am envious of those of you who have already started your 2009 bass count. Mine will sit at zero for another month yet!

In the meantime, keep the stories/pics of your fishing outings coming. I can at least live vicariously through you until May 23.

Yeah, and it's not only bass. Walleye & Northern season doesn't open until May 9 and Muskie isn't until June 6.

At this point, I'm just hoping enough ice will be off the lake by next weekend so we can get our dock/lift/boat in the water.

We have seasons here in Pa too. One thing though is you can fish for certain species but must immediatly release said fish unharmed.

Yep, unfortunately the MN regs say, "You may not intentionally fish for any species during its closed season."

What about fishing for, say, "pike?" And if you just happen to catch a bass while fishing for said "pike".......

Same laws here in Michigan. Crappie is about the only thing in season! Tomorrow our Catch and Immediate Release season opens and I can't wait, Lake St. Clair all day!

It is a very stupid law that they are trying to change. The bass don't spawn up here until mid-May through July so it doesn't protect them and open seasons have been shown not to hurt the population anyway. I know a lot of people that protest this law through civil disobedience.

I'll be up in MN from 5/23-6/6. It's no coincidence that I visit my relatives every year at the same time bass season opens

Opening week last year was fantastic, can't wait to get back up there.

I don't know if they will change it or not. I guess it used to be completely closed until Memorial Day, but a couple years ago they made a "catch and immediate release" season starting the last Saturday in April. They did a trial run on five lakes in the state and now they are all open today.
From what I hear there are anglers against getting rid of the season, not sure why since studies show no damage to bedding fish if released immediately.

Didn't rain down in SE michigan. We're about 2 miles south of the state line and it's been sunny and 80-85. We have had a lot of wind though.

I didn't know MI had a C&R season for bass. Good to know.

Well that sucks! We had rain almost all day yesterday, and it's lookin like rain all day today. I was gonna try out a new lake today too.
C&R runs from last Saturday in April to last Friday before Memorial Day. After that, it's on like Donkey Kong till the end of the year

When it comes to bass, I'm 100% C&R. There's tastier, easier fish to catch for dinner.
I was tempted to go buy some rain gear but it's only supposed to get to 47 today. Looks like I'm stayin indoors

Wow!! That really sucks!! We have a snook season here in fl. but you can still catch them!

Well, I have caught 84 bass so far!

Yesterday me and my Friend went to gander to get some stuff, I had 25$, to bust their. Also my friend lost one of my 22$ wake baits last time we went fishing to together, so he bought me some stuff (found 100$ at school, turned it in, was not claimed, and he got it) too.

Here's what I got:

1 Rattlin' rouge
1 Rappal clackin rap
2 strike pro lip less cranks (buy one get one half off)
1 Mann's 1- crank
1 hula popper ()
1 scum frog big foot frog
1 pack of rage tail toads
1 pack of speed craws
and I think that's it!

After that we went fishing in his neighbors pond, we've seen BIG bass in their, but never caught one! Between the two of us, we caught 17 bass in an hour, I caught 9, he caught 7.. We caught the lot of them swimming zoom worms, I caught a few on a rage toad, and a snag pro big foot frog! None of the bass we're pic worthy, so here's some pics of the lake!
