Now, that would suck. I doubt it will happen, though. If it will effect military GPS they will get it taken care of. Then again, with our current Commander-in-Chief.......

That sucks for the boaters! Never thought I'd say this, but good thing I'm a shore fisher!

Man, the gps system is so unbelievably important to the military that they would shut down the manufacture of small arms just to get it back online if there was any trouble. I really think it is too important of a resource for them to ever let deteriorate.

My question is, why in the frickin' world are we as a nation going to broadcast such a fault???? Idiots!!! Might as well tell our enemies where our hidden bunkers are. Oh wait... We did.

Never show weakness.

Don't worry....they'll just add a new gps tax onto all new products that use its technology.

I think 66 got it. A satellite might fail so we need to spend billions more to replace the one that fails and upgrade the system. Let's see what we can tax now. Oh by the way? What are they going to with the old satellites? Isn't there already too much trash in space? Mmmmm another new tax to correct this problem too?

The new administration would probably tax the military who use it.

Default no gps---no way

if you watch the news you know that almost every flight weapon in the u.s. military is guided by some type of g.p.s. system . if anything it will be improved greatly by 2010. no worries

Satellites naturally fall out of orbit, usually hitting the ocean. On the rare occasion we aren't sure where they land...we shoot them down.

Our current president has nothing to do with the military bureaucracy involved in setting budgets, it would be foolish to think so.

That's rich.

Tell that to the people who spent years working on the Raptor.

Besides, this area of the boards is not the place to discuss politics; neither 66 nor 3d even mentioned your lord and savior. Sounds like someone doth protest too much.

A: I was against cutting the Raptors, still am.

B: That guy isn't my lord and savior, not even close. I'm more of a Colin Powell guy, thanks.

Also I was referring to "Now, that would suck. I doubt it will happen, though. If it will effect military GPS they will get it taken care of. Then again, with our current Commander-in-Chief.......".

Again, I personally am completely against stopping production of the raptors... But I don't think Obama will let a GPS system fail. No president would do that, at the least to avoid looking bad in the eyes of the public.

Default Why worry!!!

This goes to show how depended we (AMERICANS) have become on this type of technology. I remember in the yr 2000 everything dealing with computers was suppose to crash also, and it still has not happened.

One other thing, NEVER TRUST A GPS TO REMEMBER WHERE YOUR FISHING SPOTS ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember not being able to fold my original gps. No matter how hard I tried it was always thicker after I used it than it was when I'd bought it. It only got me lost once though, but that was because of a coffee stain, that won't the gps' fault.

(God I'm getting old)
