Thought this would interest some folks... Minn Kota Talon Shallow Water Anchor System (looks like Power Pole has some competition now.. this is good for market prices):

Specifications here... http://www.dougvahrenberg.com/minnkota.html

Talon won iCast Best In Show too. They have a 6'4" and 8'4" model. Price point is $1299 and $1499, which is comparable to Power Pole. I think it will be months before we see a price war, if we will at all.

I think this makes more sense than the Power Pole. I like that this goes straight under the boat.

The only problem I see is that is this unit takes a looonnnngggg time getting the pole to max depth.

Fully Extend Time: 4.5 sec 6’ and 6.0 sec 8’

The biggest difference I'm seeing is that the Talon uses an electric motor to drive the anchor instead of the hydraulic system the Power Pole uses. I have to assume Minn Kota designed it this way on purpose. Any advantages to this like durability or lower repair costs if something goes wrong?

Thanks for the vids Kevin. I'm pretty fired up about the new tungstin/rubber sinkers from Sebile for adding weight to your hooks. I havn't seen anything like that before, but if it's a new idea, why didnt someone think of this before? Very handy item for sure. I'm really hoping Rapala comes oout with a shallow running jointed Shad Rap.

I hope there is a price war for a power pole. I'd love to have one, but they are a lot more than I am willing to pay right now.

Thanks for the vids, Kevin.
