a good lure selection for that lake would be zoom trick worms, 3/16 oz shaky head jigs with zoom finesse worm. the bomber square "a" is also very good on that lake

I've been busy and mechanical problems, trailer and boat, had me off the water for a couple weeks. Got out Sat and found 18-20lbs but couldn't catch them. Hooked one short and had a 3 grab the plastic after it slid up the line. They're schooling up and chasing bait but really tough to catch . Water temps in the low 60's. Got a big tournament this Sunday. Hope I can get the big fish to bite. Win me some $$$$ . |

I was fishing a couple docks, tossing a crankbait parrallel on both sides, and didn't get a sniff. Went up shallow and watched a 2.5 swim in front of me towards the dock. I watched it swim under the dock and meet up with a 4 and a 5. Skipped a senko back under the dock and nuttin.
Later I was fishing some more shallow docks and had a bunch of 1-2's follow the crankbait and spinnerbait back to the boat and then follow the boat . Found another 2-3 and tossed a senko in front of it and nuttin. Ran to another spot and found another 3+ sitting on a small rock pile and sea wall that ignored a couple of baits. Last spot I watched a 4+ swim around in skinny water and also didn't want to eat. I didn't spook any of these fish and many of them didn't know I was there or were unconcerned about the boat. Basically I was sight fishing in November which is cool if you're catching them but frustrating when you're not. Got any thoughts???? |

I was throwing the 200 in Red/Black from 11' and running the crank down the pilings before I saw the fish under the dock.
I threw the IMA Shaker that I (or the bait monkey) bought last month and had a lot of fish follow the bait. I've caught a few fish on this bait on the river but none on the lake. Nice shallow running crankbait. Also chunked a DD17 in Nutter during the day and came up empty too. My goal is to return and find some hungry fish this weekend. If not then I'm going to enjoy the t-shirt, door prize, and bar-b-que that my $25 entry fee is paying for. And I'll make sure I get $25 worth of bar-b-que . |

I've been throwing similiar baits all fall twice a week, and the one I keep getting fish on is the Cotton Cordell Big O in smokey joe color, its easy to wing out there,
has a small profile that matches the shad size this year, and the bill is painted like the body, comes up slow when you stop it near timbers. |

Got 2 yesterday on a pumpkin baby brush hog (1/8th oz bullet) and 2 on a Dave's shakey head (3/8th oz) with a Zoom U-tail in pumpkin chart. Never got the 5th fish and my partner caught dinks. I pre-fished a couple days and never caught a fish were I found them in practice. This tournament was pretty big considering you were invited to fish it and many teams came in empty or just one or two fish. Some of the top teams in the state fished the event. I do have to say that some of the teams were down on Buggs and Gaston for other qualifiers and championships.
Although I couldn't get a bite on a crankbait or spinnerbait my friend the Major caught his on them and placed 4th. I didn't place but I got my share of the barbque Back to the river next weekend for a two day club classic. Last edited by 3dkicker; 11-10-08 at 05:15 PM. |
