Braid line question
I have made the switch to braid line on my baitcast as I may be the best birdsnest creator in the world and it was pointed out on this forum that the braid line seems to minimize this. My one problem is that I seem to be getting slippage on the reel spool. I’ve re-spooled and retied 3 different times and I am still getting some slip when there is a moderate degree of torque required. I talked to an old fly fisherman thinking they may run into this problem and he stated that they join mono to their line that is tied to the reel.
I’m ging to try this but wanted to know if anyone else has a recommendation. |

thats the only trick that I've heard....backspooling with mono and then tying on braid.

That is a problem with braid. All my reels have a whiffle spool-one with holes in it so I just thread it through 2 holes and tie it on. For solid spools you have a couple of options: You can spool up a little mono and then tie it on, or just use a piece of tape and tape it to the spool. A bass will not spool you, so tying it on really isn't neccessary.

Ya can try a slipknot over the spool and cinch it up tight, that may work, other wise I would put mono and tie braid to that after a few rotations
