Day at Worster Lake.
Worster Lake is the lake I've talked about at Potato Creek State Park here in NW Indiana. It's located about 1hr 20 min from my home. I've always wanted to fish this lake by boat but never trusted my beater pickup to haul my boat to it. So while we get over there once a year to enjoy the park, and the bike path, I've only fished it from shore. It's a man made impoundment, absolutely beautiful, with no development anywhere allowed on the lake, except the State Park. It's 385 acres in size, and trolling motor ONLY allowed. The bass in this lake grow faster than the states average according to the DNR and now that I have a way to dependably tow my boat anywhere, I FINALLY got the opportunity to fish this lake yesterday, and was I pleased to do so. What a pleasure it is to fish a much larger lake than I usually fish with no development along the shoreline! And the bass fishing as I found out yesterday can be awesome! Having never fished this lake I used a lake map to work the western basin which is the deeper end of the lake. After catching a frog, my first catch of the day who attacked a popper, I hooked into my first bass of the day, and it was a MONSTER. I was fishing the entrance mouth to the bay in the lower left corner of the lake, about in the middle with a Yo-zuri Rattlin Vibe lipless crank, silver black back. I worked this bass to the side of the boat and as I prepared to land her, she turned and dove and out came the lure. My wife yelled OH NO! I just sat and buried my head. I know that bass would easily have gone 9-10 pounds! The a few casts later, I hooked into another huge bass that jumped and threw the bait. Made me sick. I decided my drag might be too tight, so I loosened it a bit and didn't loose anymore fish for the day. I also took fish on a Strike King Series 4 crank bait in Chartruese Sexy Shad. Most all the fish were caught by raking the lures across the rocky bottom. Took a couple on a spinner bait as well. There was lots of great looking shoreline cover and standing timber, but no action in shallow this day. I think the bass were staged on breaks near the entrance to shallower bays, waiting to move in after the shad. I hope to get back there soon! Felt great having success the first time on a new body of water. Here are a couple pics from the day.

Not sure why the pics are sideways. They were sideways when they got sent to my email via a phone, but I corrected them to vertical when I saved them to my hard drive. Oh well.

Glad the water worked out for you.
Looks like fun was had! Did you see any other boats on the lake. Now where are the scenery pics?

Just a few other boats, all on the east side where pan fishing is popular.

Looks like you're having a great time, Keith. Congrats on the fishing success on a lake that was new for you, but I'm bummed for you about the big ones you lost. Hope you get a chance to get back there and get your revenge on them!
