i use yum dingers and catch alot of measurable bass. i tied one on the last 10 minutes of a tourny and caught the bass that fattened my wallet. it would have been nice if i would have thought about it sooner.

For my money I've become strictly a Yum digger man. They catch Bass no better nor no worse then any Senko I've used. Their a better bang for the buck.

I've tried a wacky rigged stickbait on a 1/8 oz ball jig several times, but I've yet to catch a Bass with it.

JB, Thanks, but I've been wacky rigging my stkckbaits for years, as it's my favorite way to use them. I guess my post was misleading. I was referring to the reference of a weighted a wacky rig setup by Bassdoser. I've read about it before, have had a few well respected Tx guys like Patx recommend it to me as a great way to catch Bass working a school of baitfish. It just doesn't seem to work for me.

I bought some of the Gander Mountain brand "senko" style baits. They feel the same as the Yamamoto and you get twice as many for half the price.
They also have some really great colors.

I agree Jim,...tried a few bags myself...I see no measurable difference from the Yamamoto's and much friendlier to the wallet

I have used the kinami version and i think thet are made by yamamoto or somehow tied into yamamoto, they are cheaper than the yamamoto's.

Guys, trust me there are slight difference between Yamamoto and Yum Dinger but, for the price I'll take Dinger. There was a video that showed about 4 other brand stickbaits with same line and hook. The most noticeable action was Senko and Dinger was right behind. Those two stick wiggles on both ends as they fall and other brands doesn't do that. Pretty neat video. See if I can find it.

Btw, before I saw the video, two years ago in tournament I was in second with Dinger skipped under docks and brushes and the winner used Senko skipped under docks as well.

BassBandit those are some good vids. looks like the senko has more action than all the others put together. I wonder how close the kinami's are to the senko's in action.

CASS,
Fish it like a JIG. Rig it Texas style with no weight and pitch it right next to standing timber, and as JIGGER said, dead stick it for a while and carefully lift it off the bottom. If it is heavy, set the hook. It also works quite well weightless pitched around boat docks using the same method.

The only problem with Yamamoto (sp??? ) Senkos is that they dont last very long at all. They tear up so easy. They are great baits and I still buy them (specially if they are on sale ) i just wish they would last longer.

Senko's are expensive and fragile. I call them a one-fish bait.

But ....

When the bite is tough, tie on a senko, and dead stick it.

If the bite is on, tie on a cheaper, more durable stix bait like a Tiki Stix, Assault or Case magic stix.

Kinami's are made by Gary Yamamoto's son.

BassBandit, I had no idea of the difference between those baits. I am glad you put that up. Now, I have to spend the money for Yamamoto Senko baits. I already see the monkey coming with a rollin' pin in her hand

I always have a senko tied on and ready to go. They really are a versatile bait (work well on a wacky rig, t rig, dropshot, etc.) and can get you a fish when all else fails. I agree that deadsticking them can get you a finicky bass. It is my ultimate confidence bait.

One of my most productive strategies is to use a senko as my backup. At my favorite lake, frogs, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits produce like crazy all summer but when I miss a hookup I will immediately cast a senko there and usually pick up that fish (at least I always tell myself it was the same fish....lol)

NOPE. not enough salt and the wrong shape (the wobble action on the drop wouldn't be the same).
