Camping at the Get Together
Before ya know it we'll all be enjoy'n each others company at the Kentucky Lake Get Together. I'm writing to hear what all of us have planned for in accommodations at Big Bear. Are we all planning on tenting it or are there any thoughts about renting a cabin and splitting the cost amongst us. Either way, whatever we decide to do as long as we're all together, thats what matters.

I camped last year and it was just fine, would be fine with it again....but, you know a hot shower would be a nice luxury. TV aint bad for getting weather info either.
Last year we sorta ended up congregating around Bama's RV as a base of operations. Me and Mississip camped outside, couple others had hotel rooms but I think that wasnt a bad model.

I might check into renting a boat slip, all depends on how much room we have for parking, I'll just play it by ear when I get there.

Zook, thanks for the head up about the boat cover, whenever I travel that distance on the road I like to keep it covered.

Still working details. If I make it, it will be a tent and my airbed. Also planning to arrive a day or two before.

I've never really camped. I went with my friend and his family a couple times in their camper with a TV and playstation at a place with a pool and lots of running water... Now that's what I call roughin' it. Anyways, we're planning on being there, but unless I get me a truck before then (and a driver's liscence) we won't have the boat.

After going there all those years I think most of the guys in my club stayed at most of the cabins or townhouses and also the older block cabins that are no longer there, the
place is always improving the area with new buildings. all are nice and accommodating. The trick is to get enough guys in one cabin to split costs. |

Well I went ahead and booked a 1BR lake cottage #21 for 3 nights, the gal in the office said that #22 and #23 were already booked for that weekend but she still had some 2BR cottages and others available. They only ask for a deposit of 1/3 of total amount.

I dont think I can justify the expense of getting a cabin when I am really just as happy sleeping in a tent. Gas prices might be going back up too, so I'm gonna just take the tent - I will probably stop off a few places on the way up and camp anyways.

It's all good with whatever you decide.
You know what would be cool, if we had a big BASSFISHIN.COM banner to display at the campsite for all to see. Just think, this is only the 2nd event of its kind and traditions have to start sometime. Just thinking of other ways of spreading our Good Name around and making this event bigger and better. Last edited by woody; 01-08-09 at 10:51 PM. |
