I won a contest!
I placed first in the Cichlid-forum.com Photo Contest. It is my first time winning it, though I have a few other 2nd and 3rd place finishes.
Here is the image that won it for me:  Winning this round put me into the grand champions round, which happens to be the next round, so I just squeaked in. Wish me luck!

great pics. congrats on the win. bought them once to but in my fish tank big mistake only thing i had left after a week where the cichlids.

Nice photo John. I am a HUGE african cichlid fan. In college, a roomie and I had a 55 gallon tank with about $500 worth of african pacock cichlids that went belly up after a power failure during hurricane charlie. One of them was the most beautiful Red Empress I have ever seen.

As a breeder I was more into fast turn over species, and I really love the personality that a lot of mbuna have. I kept some haps too. May favorite being Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan". I had a beautiful specimen.   Sorry about your loss. I had a few die offs myself. Never an easy thing to deal with.

If you like lots of breeding, get some convicts. They were like bunnies in our 120gal tank. And SUPER aggressive when defending their nest.
