Default Tackle Swap Meet Ideals

I have been thinking about haveing a fishing swap meet for the last 3 years , only because we have an outdoors show here in town , put on by our tackle shop. They tell any vendors that used to come that they couldnt sell anything that the bait shop sells ( and they had the nerve to charge them ) So I decieded to have a real show that isnt biased , I dont care if 3 people are selling the same thing ( competition is good , for the buyers ) Anyway , I am looking for idea's and a good name , because its going to be an annual event. Thanks guys..

I would be more inclined to go to something called expo or show as apposed to flea market or swap meet.

LOL , fantastic. I will consider this name for sure. The whole pancake cook off thing would actually be funny , and I could see that bringing people in , just for the shear fun of it...

It's catchy that's for sure. I've had the phrase "pancake cook off" in my head for the last 2 days.

It's all in how you present it to the retailers and custom lure makers. You want a mix of new and old baits. Small retailers will take advantage of it because they can get stuff off their shelves and still make a small profit. Custom guys will come to show off their new stuff. Other guys will bring plastics and old crankbaits just to sell the stuff they don't use anymore.
The last two flea markets I've been to, and sold new and used baits, had 125 and 230 people show up. Both sold 40+ tables, ours cost $15 per and the other $35. Entry fees were $3. Ours had a pancake breakfast - sold by the Ruritan club - and cheeseburgers and hot dogs for lunch. The other show the organizer came around and handed out donuts.
The key is to contact the tournament directors, clubs, and retailers in the area. Make sure you have flyers to hand out.

This is a local thing right? It's not really an expo unveiling new stuff, it's more like a swap shop but retailers, wholesalers and individuals as well as manufacturers are all welcome it sound's like. Why not "The Washington Indiana Bait Bash".
Maybe you could get some kind of presentation thing going on custom painting cranks, or rod building or something of that nature along with it.

Did another flea market this weekend. Not as much new baits as the two previous weekends but did find some good stuff. Two new custom jig makers were there and picked up some skirt material. Spoke with one about jig heads for shaker/chatter baits and the other had some sweet shakey heads. Sold some old crankbaits and some of my stuff too.

Don't forget to invite some of the local guides out too. Some of them might even raffle off a half day for a good cause.

Super big gulp wasn't for sale....
