Default Trying new lures

Was just wondering how many times you bought a lure that someone won a tournament on or from TV add and it WORKS. The sexy shad is one that I did. Just love the way they hit it when I rip it off the grass. Never had a lot of luck with other brands.

I bought far too many off an ad on TV or in a magazine that are just taking up space in a box and never been fished.

While I haven't purchased it yet, but plan on it. I watched Patrick Sebile fish these at the Classic Expo in the tank. While I know they are pricey, I have a passion for soft jerk baits. The moving tungsten weights offer some awesome action and versatility. I would just like some of the hooks, too for other soft big bodied baits.

Saw the same 4 pack of white helicopter lures still for sale at this weekends flea market. Offered $2 for them but no deal.

I try a couple new baits each year. I'm pretty selective about the new baits I choose. In the past I wasn't and ended up with some junk but now I do a little more evaluation and try to avoid the hype. I'll wait 6 months or a year and get recommendations from guys I trust before buying some things. Sometimes I miss out on good baits too. Horney toads and chatterbaits are two examples. Missed the first summer with the toads and one year plus on the chatterbait. But some baits I'm way out in front like the baby brush hog and the RC crankbaits.

I actually caught some bass on the helicopter lures. Not so lucky on the old "Flying Lures".

I've done it. I think everyone has. How would u know what a good bait was if you never saw a pro fish with it.

I have plenty of room for junk lures if anyone wants to send them my way... and maybe we could start a "junk lure swap" so that maybe something that doesn't work for you may work for someone else...
