Wonder why there's no picture....
Had the new Humminbird installed two weeks ago. Took it to the lake on the way home to check it out. Backed the boat in the water just to see if the transducer was at the correct angle. Unhooked the back straps and backed it in. Boat floated up and I hopped in and turned it on. Screen came on but wasn't correct. Pulled the boat and went to adjust the Pivot Arm. Found that the bolt spun and the nut holding it was firmly attached. Closer inspection found a crack in the Pivot Arm. brand new unit....
Called the company last monday morning. Explained what I had found. No problems we'll send you a new piece in the mail. No charge . Took the boat out Sat afternoon for a little tournament. Didn't swap out the new Pivot Arm. Had planned on leaving the boat and new piece at the shop, mechanic had said he'd replace it for me, on the way home. Turned the unit on as I was idling out. Still a little off on the right hand side of the picture. Oh well. Mess with it later once the arm is replaced. Made a little run to my first stop. Just 10 minute run at 40 mph or so. Pulled into a creek and under the bridge. Let me turn on the unit and take another look. Left side of the picture works. Lets see the flat and channel bend and see if there's some wood or grass???? Nope no picture at all.....mmmmmmm? Idled into shallow water. Walked to the back of the boat to see if the transducer was moved up due to the run.....nope! It's gone completely torn away from the mounting bracket. Ripped from the wiring too. Not a good way to start a tournament..... Going to give the company a call in the morning. Should be an interesting conversation.... |

Spoke with them this morning. Better than expected. Since I was not told to not operate my boat with the broken Pivot Arm they will be replacing the transducer. I will be emailing them a picture of the broken pieces. I'll probably post them here for all to see as well.
Lesson learned: When the piece that holds the transducer in place has a crack in it have it replaced before you put your boat on the water. |

Install
Glad to see you got it figured out - who installed it? Sounds like an install issue but then again I am not there to see it first hand with all due respect.

Mechanic friend who I've known for 15+ years. He's done all the work on my boat since I bought it. I spoke with him immediately after I found the crack. He said to bring it back when the part came in and he'd fix it. He also didn't say anything about not using the boat either and this isn't the first one he's installed.
