Default Potomac Kitty's

Had RangerII and Spongebob on board today for about 100 lbs or more of catfish action. All caught on black salty's.

RangerII got a reel smoker and mine went off too with a nice cat. Doubles on the big cat's can be really cause havoc..

Spongebob gets a nice one too..

The tide slows and the day ends with this sweet sunset.

6 fish caught and a few dinks is well over 100 lbs. Biggest was 31 LBS

Default How it is done

6/0 circle hook on a 40 lb flourocarbon leader about 30 inches long. Tie that to a swivel. Next use a bead/fishfinder rig with a 4oz weight. 50 lb braided line on baitrunner reels. The rods are California stand up rods. Soft tip and really strong but section.

The bait is live 4 to 6 inch black salty hooked in tail. Cat picks it up and runs with it and all you do is turn the runner drag off and it sets the hook automagically. Then the fun begins..

C'mon Capt what's with the big rigs....I've caught 20's on med action spinning rods with 10lb mono on 4" Berkley ribworms just down river from you.

Did some bass fishing the same day as you in your favorite creek. Tough day as my partner caught one just shy of 4lbs and won big fish for the tournament and finished third overall. We caught fish on crankbaits in shallow (less than 2') pads and grass but they were all hooked outside the mouth. Caught a few little ones on plastics too. Found 60 degree water too. Winner caught his fish in the grass beds on Senkos.

Big crappie are taking plastics in 10-12' of water in Occoquan. Caught one on a baby brush hog!
