Default Mattern Guide Service on Lake Fairfield

Mattern Guide

Hello Everybody,

Acts 10 : Verse 38 How God anointed Jesus Of Nazereth with the Holy Ghost and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.

Well the cold fronts have really slowed the bite on most cold water lakes. Water temps are in the low 50\\\'s and upper 40\\\'s in the shallows ends of most lakes.

I have been convincing my clients to go to Lake Fairfield this last week for more Bass action mixed with an occasional redfish or 2.

I took 2 clients out this week Gregg Taylor enjoyed His Biggest Bass that was 5.3 lbs and caught about 12 in the 3-4 lb. range with about 10 under 2 lbs. We were throwing wacky rigged Nichols salty mother sinkers in Green Pumkin Pepper. The Nichols sinker is a similar bait to the senko. Water temps were about 65 over most the Lake and the discharge was about 73 degrees.

The power plant keeps the Lake at a great 63 degrees most always through the winter. Redfish were stocked years ago and Lake Fairfield holds the Texas record red at a whopping 36 lbs.+

We also caught Bass on Carolina rigs using the Nichols Creature Bait in Watermelon red. We only caught 1 redfish about 2 lbs. that day.

Then I took out a lovely couple Mr. & Mrs. Reid and we met at Midday at the entrance of Fairfield State Park. I rigged them up wacky rigs and Carolina rigs, but the Bass wanted the same Nichols sinkers and same color but wanted them Texas rigged so we changed to listen to what the Bass were saying. Best bite came at evening about 4:00 PM on. Mr. Reid hooked up with about a 4 lber. Bass and the fight was on. Then another about the same size. We were using the Nichols Creature. Bass just simply love them.

I believe they have seen the other creature baits so many times they like something a little different.

Then the Reds began to hit the same bait and the action got exciting as Mr. and Mrs. Reid were getting into those reds. I guess they lost and puit into the boat about a dozen reds with the biggest being right at 5 lbs.

Mrs. Reid was having difficulty getting the rig out to where the reds were so I let Her use one of my Jeff Friend Custom rods. Man she could cast and started getting bit alot better.

Looking forward to hear from you give me a call this winter and we will put you into some great action on Fairfield ( The Lord Willing ) Call me at my home number 903-478-2633.

I\\\'m Sorry, goes out to those who called for a booking this Wenesday and Thursday and I was not able to book you in for I was already booked solid through Thursday.

If you can be sure and get your call or E-mail about 1-2 weeks before your trip so we can make sure you get in, Thanks.

Don\\\'t forget to call Mr. Nichols and get you a Nichols Catalog with His great Spinnerbaits and Jigs and Plastics and so much more and tell him Mattern Guide Service sent you it counts toward me.

Thanks again may our Great Almighty God bless you and remember to pray for our men fighting the good fight over seas to keep us free, just like Jesus they are paying for our freedom with their blood. Happy Thanksgiving, Don Sr.
