Default what on the boat

now be honest fellow fishermen, for a day of fishing on the lake(not tourney),how many rods and reels do you take, and how many do you use.please count only the ones u use.my reason for this is im gonna try to do some drop shot this year and was wondering if anybody says they are drop shotting with a baitcaster.

i always take 5 baitcasters, and have a spinning reel set-up in the locker.the spinning reel almost never gets used.

I carry 8 baitcasters and 2 spinning rods. I probably use 4 baitcasters regularly and use 1 spinning rod only if im fishing clear water.

I've got 11 in my boat (adding 3 more this spring) and on a bad day I've used 9 or 10. Had most of them out on the boat a couple of times... And on a 17' 6" boat that doesn't leave a lot of room on the front deck.

As for DS, spinning only for me.

I take 7 or 8 rods, usually only use 2 or 3. If I can't pinpoint what the fish are doing I may use 5 or so. Can't ever have enough rods though! Good fishin'

I have 8, 4 baitcasters, 3 spinning, and a ultralite (also a spinner)....I have each rod set up with a different bait so i can quickly change situations during the day due to weather and time change or if the bass just want something different...

4 setups, 3 baitcasters, 1 spinning. I don't dropshot, so I'm no help there.

I carry 5. I would carry more, but that is all that will fit on my little pontoon like boat. 4 Bait casters and 1 spinning reel (The spinning reel has two spools and I have used both in the same day). I use all 5 throughout the course of the day.

I take 5:

4 BC/1 spinning
or
3 BC/2 spinning

I use them all, btw, you can dropshot with a baitcaster.

I tend to take 5 baitcasters. I use one for dropshotting, one for +1/8oz worm fishing, one for -1/8oz fishing, 1 for a soft jerk bait, and 2 for misc (spinner or buzz bait, topwater, or crankbait). I just got a Shimano Sedona for a safety award and I am looking for a rod for it though. I plan on drop shotting and fishing a shakey head with it. If I start using it, I will probably leave one of my baitcasters at home.

My rods always stay in the boat during the season. 12 baitcasters, 4 spinning. I really don't know what I'll be throwing until I get where I'm going. But usually I'll use 6 - 8 in a given day, sometimes more. If I throw cranks - that's 4 on the deck. Spinnerbaits - 2 rods. Plastics - 6 rods. Finesse fishing - 3 spinning rods come out and maybe a baitcaster. Once I pick a bait color(s) then I don't change a lot of baits, I just pick up another rod.

I take 3, cause I only have 3 bass poles, I use the "good" pole more often then the "bad" BC, I have a spinner but it never gets used!

4
1-spinning rod 6'6'' Phlueger reel just for drop shotting.
2- Phlueger baitcast- 1 mh for crankbaits, spinnerbaits - 1 m for tubes, worms, creatures, c-rig, etc.
1- Spinning rod phlueger reel just in case.
Have more to choose from but if i put out too many sooner or later i will start stepping on them.

It depends. If I am going out on someone else's boat, I take 4 or 5 rods. If I am taking my boat, I take 5 or 6 rods.

It also depends on what baits I plan on fishing. Sometimes more crankin' rods than soft plastic rods. Sometimes, vice versa. It all depends.

i usually take 10-12 with me in my boat all the time. usually 2 of them are spinning rods and the rest are baitcasters. on a good day when i figure out a pattern i may just use 3 or 4 of the rods and the rest are put up out of the way. if i can't find a pattern then i will usually use several more. when i am in someone elses boat i take no more than 6 and usually only take 5 rods.

i dropshot with a spinning rod

From the shore I used to carry 4 but have narrowed it down to 3 because I realized that no more than two were used on a typical outing.

Used to be 2 casting and 2 spinning, but now, 2 casting and one spinning. I have other setups, but I will bring usually 3 at any given time. I also don't have a problem lugging my rigs around because I can easily carry 3 rods in one hand without them ever touching each other.

As for drop shotting, you can certainly do it with a bc reel. I have, but I do it for heavier cover and weights. In the classic finesse sense of the technique, spinning is deal solely for the pure vertical drop you get with a spinning reel that you cannot get with a casting reel unless you strip line off. Heavier weights make it more convenient on casting gear, but you'll still be stripping line off just to achieve a non-pendulum fall with a casting reel.

I only take 16 rods for everyday fishing. Somewhere in the low 20's for a tournament.

Given the fact that I fish out of a 12 foot jon boat I'm pretty limited to what I take with me. That being said, I usually take 5 baitcasters, and a spinning outfit. All 6 will be rigged and all will get used durring the day. However, by the second or third hour on the lake, I'm often down to just two or three rods if I've figured out the pattern for that day. Which often changes durring the day, and hense the other rods again can come into play. There are times when I will be taking a 6th baitcaster which makes a total of 7 rods rigs to go. But in a 12 foot jon boat that can be more trouble than it's worth!!!!

I take 6.

4 BC and 2 spinning rods. I use spinning for dropshot, but you can definately use a BC.

well i fish out on ponds in a 12ft jon boat.. but i normally just take two.. and my buddy takes two..

one spinning, one BC apiece..

sometimes i take a third.. another spinning or so.. i normally have a BC set up with a buzz bait.. then spinngng with a pop-r and the third with a texas rig...

then when i get in the pond i've got everything i need rigged and ready...then as the morning moves on i change the stuff to a little deeper
