Gotta go with the Yellow Magic. I never had much success with a popper until I started using them.

old trick
Hey yall speaking of poppers....went this am and the bass were absolutely crashing/smashing/whacking/killing a Pop-r from 630 til 830 (cloudy-drizzly) water extremely clear-fish were in about 3-6' of water. When it quit raining and clouds started to break up they slowed down but I felt like they were still there so I tied an 18" drop line on the back treble with a 4" wacky worm and they went NUTS! It was the funniest thing to watch...a couple of "glupes"...and then the popr would just dob under like a cork...bloop!

Walt's Poppers are my favorite. He's retired now after making a half million or so over the years. If you can find one get it and break out a fly rod.
Now for topwater baits I like the old P-70 Pop-R and RICO's. Had a pro call my RICO a "$20 treble hook with tail feathers". Stillwater makes a nice one. |
