Whats your favorite way to bass fish in the early spring? Mine is slow-rollin a 3/4 ounce spinnerbait close to structure.

I like to use a black 3/8 oz. spinnerbait and a 3/4 oz. silver and black rattle trap.

I have more luck with the trap than I do the spinnerbait though.

A Smithwick Rattlin Rouge in breem color is my first choice. Worked on the surface with a twitch twitch retireve near shallow cover. Then a white tamdem spinner with gold blades worked slow both shallow and mediums depths along the bottom. As the water warms a bit I'll start pitching a lizard rigged T style.

I have a hard time limiting myself. I usually go out with my confidence lures including Senko, Green and white tube, Case Salty Shad, DT-4, and DT-6's.

i fish them as soon as the ice is out (more or less) and i fish them all the way through the summer and fall. they just flat out work, everytime I fish.
This early? 3-4 feet of water leading to main channels and on those channel breaks where the fish are staging to move up to spawning grounds. once the water reaches 50 i move shallower. usually clear water this time of year, LONG casts. those fish you see roaming shallows that never bite. well, cast at them from a distance and they will.

I agree with wishing2befishing... I,too, have a hard time limiting myself. But what I always end up using the most are tubes and senkos in a variety of colors t-rigged, and my fav...a 1/4 oz blue/silver rat l trap.

I like to throw a zoom brush hog in the spring, in the watermelon color, rigged weightless. I have had the best results twitching it slowly around cover.

Default shad rap

I caught my early spring bass on a ghost shap rap with a feather tail at a slow retrieve with a few twitches. biggest this year was a 5 1/2lb large mouth.
