Depends on the type bait. For tubes I use a 3/0 Extra Wide Gap(EWG) hook. For bigger baits like a Tiki Stick, Senko or creature bait I use a 4/0 EWG and for the biggest baits and frogs I use a 5/0.

With smaller diameter baits like a trick worm, finesse worm or 6" curl tail I use a 1/0 Tru Turn hook. For lizards I use a 2/0 or 3/0 EWG depending on the size/bulk of the lizard.

Just remember the bulkier the bait the bigger the hook you need.

Here is an example:

The top worm is rigged with a hook that is too big, where the second one has the right size hook. The third one has a hook that is too small, and the bottom one has the right size.

2/0 3/0 or 4/0 depending on the bait. Most of the time, I will use primarily 3/0 and 2/0, very rarely do I use a 4/0 hook. 90% of the time, I have a 3/0 hook on my line, unless, I'm downsizing for finesse fishing.

My general rule of thumb is to use a hook with a gap of at least double the diameter of the soft plastic. This will leave enough gap after rigging to allow the hook to pass through the plastic and into the bass's jaw.

If I am finesse fishing I will drop down to a 1/0 and up to a 3/0 for lizards and such.
