Default Early Christmas

With opening day of rifle season startin Saturday I got to brag a little about my new toy/portable cannon I am picking up tomorrow. I just bought a Winchester Model 70 338 ultra mag. Such a great deal I couldnt leave it on the shelf. I am a little scared of the damage it will do to my shoulder but hoping I get the chance to use it Saturday on a BIG BUCK. The guy I bought it from said the first time he shot it he saw stars for a week from the scope busting him in the eye. he put 6 shots thru it and said screw it and bought a 270. I currently shoot a 25-06 Ruger so I know it will kick considerably harder than that. Anybody here have any experiance with a 338?

I would recommend that you shoot it once or twice before taking it out. Wouldn't want you to miss the big one and end up with a black eye or worse damage.

No experience with that type of rifle but I do have a 20 guage Win. that kicks the crap out of my shoulder. The 12 guage Moss does pretty good too.

My Rem 870 kicks my butt on the big loads. 100 rounds of trap is nothing though :P Good luck on Saturday. General gun opened last Saturday for us, heading out for 3 days this weekend to see what we can scrounge up. Mainly looking for some gobblers and hogs.

Holy cow!! I just read a little about it. I feel sorry for anything you hit with it. I'm ready for deer hunting to start on Monday. I'm just using a little .300WSM....

OK guys took out the new toy last night shot it several times and I got to say that is the hardest hiotting gun I have ever put to my shoulder not sure how many times I wanna pull the trigger on that beast. The second shot nearly send me to the ER. But it does shoot like a dream. I have decided that the ole 25-06 will be the gun of choice for Saturday.
