Default Scent question.

This pertains to jigs and soft plastics. Which flavor scent would you add to your bait, garlic or crawdad? Does one outshine the other or are they pretty much equal in effectivness?

I add Spike It garlic scent. It also adds a chartreuse dye to the tails of my flukes (as if the bait itself wasn't deadly enough).

Garlic also tends to hide or mask the human scent that gets on the lures from handling and tying. The best advice I heard here was when you handle the first catch of the day, use the natural fish "slime" on your hands and don't wipe it off. Just make sure not to over handle the fish if you catch and release.

Garlic. It's the only scent that seems to make any difference at all in my mind and I've used the new Gulp spray on scent that everyone is raving about.

i don't use scent very often but when i do it is usually ultrabite (get the spray bottle because the bottle i have is messy.....and that's why i don't use it much). i am usually not a big believer in scents helping that much but i do think that ultrabite helps a lot. if you are just asking garlic or crawdad? i would probably lean towards crawdad, especially for a jig.

megastrike original, not the Yamamoto blend. Works, that's all.
