6" jack plate is all you need 12" will have the moter completly out of the water.. maybe 6-8" set back but thats it..

what prop are you running now? what are your rpm at wot? what is your water pressure at wot??

Without doing a lot of motor work you won't get much more out of a 115.Is spending a couple hunnert bucks on a prop worth 1 or 2 more M.P.H.?Not for me.If it runs good I would leave it alone.Where's Lazer when you need him....

I've got a 115 on mine and 49-51 is top speed on it which is plenty fast for me.

Zooker, I fished a local lake yesterday. After a couple hours of fishin' and not catchn', I figured I would gap her back and get you those #s. I got up around 48mph and hit a submerged something. My boat cut hard to the left (scared the heck outa my son). I turned around but I couldn't find what I hit. Now when I gun it, the boat hesitates. The motor makes a loud noise and goes nowhere. At slow speeds its fine but above 10-15mph it goes nowhere! Any ideas?

loud noise?? hmmm put your moter into gear and try turning the prop with the moter cover off. if it turns before the moter rolls over ya spun the hub..-a great excuse for buying a new prop if i ever seen one...

I think you were right about the prop. Now I am trying to figure out what prop I am gonna go with. My current prop is a 12 3/4 21p blackmax.

Ah but I am here and I am gonna be back in full swing with the posting and everything in 4 weeks. Movin the family back in. Tired of the 5 hr ride to see the kids and argue wit da wife anywaysssss............On the subject of the 115 and geting the most outta here first and foremost is correct setup of ANY boat be it a 9.9 or a 300 Pro Max. Give me some numbers and I can be a WHOLE lot more specific on what ya need to do to max out the performance without breaking the bank. The first thing is ditch the aluminum prop. They make good spare anchors and occaisoinally get you back in if you really wack the stainless. There are several good props that would fit your rig. I have some of my favorites because I am a speed freak as some of ya'll know. I need to know what you are running as far as Wide open throttle RPM's when you really are trying to wring her out. I need to know water pressure if'n ya got it at WOT (Wide open throttle) also need to know how she comes outta da hole. Need to know all this AND ehat ptch prop ya got on her right now. A 6 inch manual plate will suffice unless you want the added comfort of jacking under way. With the right pitch stainless and some careful setup I can assure you that you can gain AT LEAST 7-10mph and possibly more. I been setting up rigs since they found that a boat will float LMAO!!!! Give me those numbers and I can hook ya up.
