Default Had a great day on the lake today.

Went fishing for the first time in a month or so, cause work and car problems had been keeping me off the lake. The temp hovered around 48 all day, and it was nothing but rain - in fact check the radar - I was fishing near the 'B' in Birmingham. I caught 1 fish, only 1 fish, a 13 inch largemouth.

So why did I enjoy the day so much? Maybe because it reminded me of other days in past years where it was still, cold and raining but these are the type of days that signal an early spring or at least the return of "patternable" prespawn bass. Maybe I just really needed to get out on the lake. Maybe the rain leached into my brain and set yet another screw loose. Maybe it was that I landed the bass on a crankbait and christened a brand new rod and reel in the process. I don't know, but at one point I looked up towards the heavens and thanked God that he made me so masochistic that I am able to enjoy the sport of bass fishing even during crappy weather.

Glad you were out there. They were in a prespawn around here, but it's froze the past two nights, and its supposed to freeze every night from here till friday, so I think that's gonna throw em off. We'll have to see....

It may be a cliche' but:" A bad day fishin' is better then a good day workin'."
It's alway good to get out. At least you didn't get nothing for your troubles.

Glad you got out,

Jolly
