Not only Iīve heard about it, Iīve fished it several times. A lake where if during a tournament you arrive with 20 lbs of fish you wonīt even make the 20th place.

One of our pro staff guys was down there a couple months ago and filmed a tv show on that lake. I think his biggest of the one or two days of fishing was only 8 pounds.

8lbs.--ummm that wins some tournaments on our home lake. Claytor Lake is known as the "GREAT AQUATIC DESERT".

The State record LM from Indiana went 14lbs12oz. It was caught in Southern Indiana from a gal by the name of Jenifer Schultz.
My personal best LM was taken from Patoka Lake it weighed in right at 6lbs. Occasionally you'll hear of a 8+lber being caught from there. Hoping to catch one them this year.

I took Daiwa to video a show in Nov. and Takahiro Omori and Yusuke Miyazaki both had 10+ fish. But I can say the fishing was off more than normal. All the new water and the cooler temp. I think had something to do with it. Call me at 830-570-1837 if you want more info on going to Sugar Lake.

The winter months are not good for fishing any of the Mexican lakes other than you being comfortable with temps in the high 70īs low 80īs, the lakes during winter are filled to itīs maximum capacity and turn a regular sized lake into a sea, the fish scatter and they are a lot harder to locate so itīs no wonder why even though you might catch a good fish the chances are reduced greatly.

For fishing the Mexican lakes comfortably and with greater chances of success you have to come during the late winter/early spring ( Feb-Mar ), why ?:

1.- itīs the spawn !
2.- the lake levels have dropped significantly
3.- you wonīt get roasted
4.- itīs the spawn !
5.- itīs the spawn !

6.- Did I mention ? itīs the spawn !

Now for guys living in southern Texas, Louisiana, Georgia or Florida fishing during the late spring all the way through late fall it would be like fishing at your home lake, for guyz up north ..... seriously guyz, donīt come ! we donīt want you melting in the middle of the lake by 10 AM.

The biggest fish was caught on a 7" Yum Dinger and the other fish was caught on a 3/4oz. football jig. That day my best 5 fish weighed 41 pounds and my buddy had 38 pounds out of the back of the boat. Thanks Justin

Whenever I say that a 20 lb 5 fish limit wonīt even get a sniff in that lake peple think Iīm pulling their leg , I ainīt s*g.

The only problem with those lakes aside from the weather being Xtra warm ( it can get to 120° ) specially during the summer is the wind coming from the Gulf, if it gets windy it sure becomes scary if you are not in a good sized boat, it gets like this ------>
